Isidor Isaac Rabi (1898 - 1988)
Isidor Isaac Rabi was born in Austria. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1944 for work on the magnetic properties of atomic nuclei. From 1940 to 1945, he worked at M.I.T.'s Radiation Laboratory, developing microwave radar, and as an advisor to the Manhattan Project. He later served on the Atomic Energy Commission's General Advisory Committee from 1946-56. Rabi died on January 11, 1988.
